Stay Safe Out There

Safety is a core value here at RTA and it should be at the top of your radar as well. We are committed to making sure each customer has a safe and satisfying experience while riding our buses or passing through our Transit Centers. Part of our Customer Service Promise includes your right to safety. If we are not performing to your standards, you can use our online option to "Write to the Top" and your safety concern will come straight to me. I promise to respond in a timely fashion.

You can help us help you by taking some practical steps to ensure your safety:

  1. Try to catch your bus at a busy, well-lit bus stop.
  2. Keep personal conversations discreet so others don't overhear where you are going or where you've been.
  3. Stay awake and alert.
  4. If someone bothers you on the bus, tell the driver and change seats.
  5. If this occurs in a Transit Center, notify a Transit Ambassador. I always try to scan an area before entering and leaving it to get a sense of who's there and what's going on. This helps me stay alert to any potential danger.

Other safety tips to prevent personal injuries include:

  1. Have your fare ready when you board the bus
  2. Use available hand rails, especially in the winter when floors can be wet and slippery
  3. Get seated as soon as possible and remain seated until the bus slows or comes to a stop
  4. Keep aisles clear of strollers and other items that can create trip hazards.
  5. Finally, remember to remove hoodies and ski masks upon boarding a bus!
