(DAYTON, OHIO) … The Greater Dayton RTA will adjust services and detour around street closures in downtown Dayton during planned demonstrations in the city. Detours of RTA buses will begin on Thursday, May 23, and the closure of Wright Stop Plaza will begin Friday evening, May 24, and last through Sunday afternoon, May 26.
Timeline of street closures and bus detours
RTA bus detours will begin approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, when Ludlow between Second and Fourth streets, and the intersection of Main and Third street is shut down.
Beginning Friday evening, at approximately 7 p.m., all access to streets surrounding Courthouse Square will be blocked. These closures will affect all routes, as buses will not be using Wright Stop Plaza beginning at approximately 7 p.m. on Friday, May 24 through Sunday afternoon, May 26.
Monument Avenue near RiverScape MetroPark will close Saturday morning at 10 a.m., but RTA will begin its bus reroutes around the area on Friday, May 24, at 7 p.m. to coincide with all other RTA detours.
ALL RTA ROUTES will be affected during this time period. The agency is asking all riders to be patient as some routes could be running late due to the detours and extra time given to customers to find their buses at the temporary lineup locations around the Dayton Metro Library.
During these street closures and detours, extra RTA staff will be on hand to assist customers. All riders are encouraged to ask questions if they do not know where they should go to catch their bus.
