(DAYTON, OHIO) … To ensure access for all who choose to use their right to vote, the Greater Dayton RTA will provide free rides system-wide on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The RTA understands the necessity for reliable transportation to fulfill this right. Along with transporting more than 30,000 riders daily to work, medical appointments, and daily activities, a trip to the voting polls will now be accessible to all with a free ride on all election days. These free rides apply to both RTA’s fixed-route and paratransit services.
“We want to remove transportation as an obstacle to citizens excising their voting right," said Brandon Policicchio, Chief Customer and Business Development Officer for the RTA.
The RTA has also put a page on its website with a link to where you can find your polling location. Visit www.iriderta.org/pollingroutes to find out more.
The RTA has long supported the community need for accessible and reliable transportation on important days in the year, such as Thanksgiving where the RTA offers free rides to help connect people with friends, family, and the free Feast of Giving holiday meal in downtown Dayton. The agency’s commitment to free rides on Election Day is another step to foster inclusion and awareness on important events in the community, Policicchio said.
