RTA reroutes buses for downtown Dayton parade and festival

(DAYTON, OHIO) … Due to street closures on Friday, Nov. 29, for holiday events in downtown Dayton, RTA will make route changes and temporary bus stops beginning at 3 p.m. on Nov. 29.

At 3 p.m. four bus stops will close:
Eastbound: (3rd at Perry St.) Passengers can catch the bus at Wright Stop Plaza.
Westbound: (3rd at Perry St.) (3rd @ St. Mary's) Passengers can catch the bus at WSP.
Southbound: (Ludlow at Second) Passengers can catch the bus at WSP.
After 7:00 p.m. The stop eastbound on 3rd at St. Mary’s will be closed. Passengers can catch the bus at WSP.

Between 7 and 9 p.m., Wright Stop Plaza will be closed due to the Dayton Children’s Holiday Parade. Temporary bus stops will be at the following locations:
Eastbound - 3rd St. at St. Clair St.
Westbound - 3rd St. at Jefferson St.
Northbound - Jefferson St. at 3rd St.
Southbound - 3rd St. at Jefferson St. 

THE FLYER
During parts of the Holiday Festival, RTA's The Flyer shuttle will also reroute due to street closures. The Flyer will reroute between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. The RTA will place temporary stops along the reroute, as all stops on Main Street will be missed during this time, along with the stop on Monument Avenue at Jefferson Street, and the southbound stop at 5th Street between Patterson & Jefferson. A map has been created showing the reroute and temporary stop locations (attached).

Temporary stops will be placed at the following locations during the reroute:
Northbound - Jefferson St. at 4th St.
Northbound - Jefferson St. at 2nd St.
Southbound - St. Clair at 1st St.
Southbound - St. Clair at 2nd St.
Southbound - St. Clair at 4th St.
Southbound - St. Clair at 5th St. 

Those attending the Dayton Holiday Festival Grande Illumination and Parade can use The Flyer to get to and from festivities without worrying about finding parking downtown. Park on Brown Street and use The Flyer to get to the event. Riding is free and buses arrive every 10 minutes.
