(DAYTON, Ohio)… The Greater Dayton RTA was recognized for its efforts in improving customer safety with a Certificate of Merit for Security awarded by the American Public Transportation Association.
RTA was recognized for its efforts to improve safety during an awards ceremony Monday, May 8 at APTA’s annual Bus & Paratransit Conference in Reno, NV. RTA created the “See Something, Say Something, Do Something” campaign to reduce vandalism and create awareness messaging across the Miami Valley. This resulted in improved safety across the transit system and a 35 percent decrease in vandalism and incidents involving RTA buses across the board. In addition, the campaign resulted in 21 fewer incidents of broken windows and a net savings of $16,800.
The RTA promotes safety and security through programming such as “See Something, Say Something, Do Something.” If you have information about a crime involving RTA property, you can call the agency’s anonymous tip line at (937) 452-TIPS (8477). Cash rewards are available if information results in successful prosecution.
