RTA prepares for annual RTA Safety Fair at Wright Stop Plaza

(DAYTON, OHIO) … Safety is everyone’s business, and the RTA along with community partners will promote personal safety through the third annual “Safety Day at the RTA” on Tuesday, October 30 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the concourse of Wright Stop Plaza, 4 S. Main St. Personal safety training and demonstrations will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is free and open to the public.
The RTA has invited community partners to inform the public on valuable safety tips including: medical emergency warning signs, pedestrian and bicyclist safety, fire prevention, weather preparedness, infant mortality prevention, and opioid addiction treatment and services in the area. In addition, the RTA Safety Committee will talk about the agency’s push to prevent riders and other pedestrians from improperly crossing the street in front of a bus.
During the fair, participants can also attend a free, interactive personal safety classes presented by the Dayton Police Department at the following times:
o 9:30 a.m.: Personal Safety
o 10:45 a.m.: Run, Hide, Fight!
o 12 p.m.: Personal Safety
A valuable “RTA Safety Prize Pack” will be offered at the event. Participants will be asked to visit with each booth and have their passport stamped by at least five partners/vendors at the event to be eligible for the prize pack. Those participating in one of the personal safety classes will also be eligible for one of the prize packs.
This event is being made possible through RTA’s partnerships with the Dayton Police Department, Families of Addicts, Help Me Grow!, The Artemis Center, Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, Recovery Café, RTA Safety & Security, Dayton Police Crisis Intervention Team, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Dayton Fire Department.
