Holiday schedule and free rides for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

(DAYTON, OHIO) … The Dayton community is invited to ride for free aboard all RTA regular fixed-route buses and RTA Connect paratransit services all day on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 21.
RTA buses will operate on a reduced Saturday service schedule in observance of the holiday, except for The Flyer, which will run regular weekday service. The RTA business offices will be closed in accordance with the holiday.
The RTA is a sponsor of the MLK Dayton events on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and will provide free shuttle service between the Dayton Convention Center and the Dr. Charles R. Drew Health Center at 1323 W. Third Street for anyone participating in the Dayton MLK Memorial March and Rally. The event starts at 10 a.m., with the march beginning at the Charles R. Drew Health Center, 1323 W. Third Street, in Dayton. RTA shuttle service from the end of the march and rally will run from 10:50 a.m.- 2:40 p.m.
There may be service delays and rolling route deviations due to the MLK Jr. Day march between approximately 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. along Third Street and the downtown Dayton corridor.
The Flyer will be running regular, weekday service, but because of the MLK March, there will be a temporary closure of some stops when the march is on Main Street and Fifth Street. Here is the reroute for The Flyer:
- Pick up at the Transportation Center garage
- Turn RIGHT onto Jefferson
- Turn LEFT onto Second
- Turn RIGHT onto Main to regular Routing
- STOPS MISSED: Levitt Pavilion and Main at Second (Kettering Tower)
- From Main Street at Flying Pizza stop (Main at First St.)
- Turn LEFT onto Second
- Turn RIGHT onto St. Clair
- STRAIGHT as St. Clair turns into Patterson at FIFTH
- STOPS MISSED: Courthouse Square, Mont. Co. Health Building, SB Transportation Center Garage and Neon Movies
